Train with purpose.
Live with balance.
Science-based coaching for athletes, artists, and anyone who wants to feel strong in their body and in their life.
Life is built of the small decisions you make all day, everday. Training is where you test yourself, build mental toughness, and learn how your body moves. Whether you're looking to improve strength, endurance, exercise technique, or workout consistency, I meet you where you are to help you prioritize your health and reach your goals.
Who I work with
Athletes: current, young, and former
Swimming, running, cycling, martial arts, strength sports, and more. Competing now, just starting out, or training like an athlete again, your program is built around your sport and your goals, without the burnout.
Adults 50+
Looking to optimize strength and cardiovascular health throughout the aging process.
Artists and performers
Your body is part of your craft. Training that sharpeans focus, stamina, and presence.
My approach
Specific, not just hard
Every set, rep, and rest day exists to create an adaptation that fits your goal.
Balanced, because it has to be
Adaptations happen while we rest which is why recovery days are built into every plan. I know overtraining from the inside. Recovery, nutrition, mindset, and life outside sport are an important part of the picture.
Mind, heart, body, soul
Performance happens when they work together. Sport is one facet of a full life.
Leave energized
You should walk out having made real progress and wanting to come back tomorrow.

About
I was recruited to swim Division I at Princeton University, but I arrived so burned out from years of relentless training that I didn’t want to compete. I studied art instead. It helped me recover physically, mentally, and emotionally from going so hard for so long in the pool.
After graduating with a BA in studio art, I found my way back to swimming. I started coaching at the Mason Manta Rays, my old club team, near Cincinnati, OH. The group of 11- to 14-year-olds I coached reminded me of the love I once had for swimming. They reminded me that having fun has to be part of the process. They ultimately inspired me to start training and racing again. I do much less volume than I ever did as a youngster, and I love it. I recently started racing again and set a PR after 10 years out of competition.
Swim coaching also reinforced a sincere fascination I've had for as long as I can remember with the why behind training, from what happens in your cells to how a program fits together. Wanting to write better workouts for my athletes, I decided to get my NSCA CSCS certification (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, through the National Strength and Conditioning Association).
I moved from Cincinnati to Truckee, where I coach masters swimming, teach swim lessons, and help people reach their fitness goals at every stage of life. I especially love working with people who think they're past their prime and have no idea what's waiting around the corner.
